For most of his swimming career, Australian swimmer Cameron McEvoy trained the way elite swimmers trained.

Lots of swimming.

Up and down the pool.

Follow the black line.

And he was successful.

Three Olympics.
Olympic medals.
World titles.

But no individual Olympic gold.

McEvoy had questioned the way swimmers trained for years.

He said: “For a very long time I always had questions about how we train.”

He didn't agree with a lot of it.

But he kept doing it.

After the Tokyo Olympics, he decided to find out whether there was another way.

Instead of swimming around 30km a week, he cut that to about 3km.

He borrowed the way track and cycling sprinters train: less volume, much higher intensity, with more strength and power work.

Then he built his training around what a 50-metre race required.

At 30, at his fourth Olympics, Cameron McEvoy won gold in the 50m freestyle.

He didn't lower his standard.

He questioned the accepted way of reaching it.

Law has its own black lines.

More legal preparation.
More legal research.
Another recheck.
Another hour or two+.
Staying late | long hours.
Always being available.
Perfectionist standards.

You see successful barristers and lawyers doing it.

You do it.

You become successful.

So you keep doing it.

Because that's just how successful barristers and lawyers work.
IS IT? SAYS WHO?

Or is that how barristers and lawyers have learned to work and accepted that that's what is required to succeed?

McEvoy said:
“I’ve always just been curious about what you do, why you do it, where that would take you.”
