Disagree with this if you want.👇

Barristers and lawyers, you're not unclear about what needs to change... now.
You're very clear.

You keep making excuses for yourself.

You say you want more influence in high-stakes rooms.
But you don't do the work that gives you more influence.

You say you want fewer hours, firmer boundaries, and more freedom.
Then tell yourself this is a busy time, and it'll be different when it settles,
and do nothing.

You say you want to handle high-conflict, aggressive, and controlling counterparts or clients better in mediation.
And you keep treating mediation like litigation in a different room.

You talk about change while excusing yourself, explaining why now isn't the right time.

That's not confusion.
That's letting yourself off the hook.

It doesn't mean you're weak.
It does explain the behaviour.
It doesn't excuse it.

Here's what most people don't like hearing:
You're too soft on yourself when it comes to holding yourself accountable
to create the changes you say you want most.

Accountability is uncomfortable because it removes the escape routes:
No timing excuses.
No money excuses.
No workload excuses.
No, "I already know this."
No, "Would be nice to have, not essential."
No, "I think this is soft, it's not for me."
No, "It won't work for me."

There's only the level of action and effort required to get the results you want,
and whether you're willing to meet it.

And let me be clear, I don't work with people who turn up week after week with excuse after excuse, wanting different results without effort or action.

Not because I don't care. I do.
I care about helping people get the results they say they want.
But I won't care more than they do.

🚀This isn't for everyone. It's for barristers and lawyers willing to change how they operate, not just rely on legal skill, to get their best results.
