Old V New Leadership Playbook - What Do You Want?

📚 Retire the legal leadership playbook that builds reputations based on legal expertise, but burns people out.

Old thinking:
 • Bill more hours = leader
 • Power over people = respect
 • Stay 'perfect', stay "professional" = leader

New reality:
 • Impact and influence over invoices
 • Trust over fear
 • Authentic connection over 'performance perfection'

Since I started leading differently years ago and helping lawyers become trusted leaders, here's what I've seen:
 • Teams are more loyal because they feel seen
 • Stress levels drop, because fear isn't the motivator anymore
 • Clients notice and trust you to advise and lead them, and they not only view you as a lawyer with technical skills.

High-performance, trusted leadership isn't about being the best technical lawyer (albeit important - legal skills don't help you lead).

It's about being brave enough to learn HOW to lead.

Brené Brown says:
Clear is kind. Vulnerability is strength. Connection creates results.

Law doesn't need more expert lawyers in leadership roles, with excellent technical skills, burning themselves and others out in the process.

It needs leaders who empower themselves, their teams, inspire trust, and drive meaningful results, without losing themselves in the process.
